The NeighborhoodPrinceton is made up of two municipalities; the Borough, where Fifty Wiggins is located, is the center of town containing the 'down town' area and most of Princeton University and the Township which surrounds the Borough. Princeton has a thriving central business district within a few blocks of Fifty Wiggins with stores offering a wide variety of goods and including many popular locally-owned businesses such as Small World Coffee, Thomas Sweet Ice Cream, Princeton Record Exchange, The Bent Spoon, Kopp's Cycles, and Hoagie Haven as well as nationally known shops such as Ralph Lauren, Simon Pierce, Talbots, Ann Klein, Banana Republic, J. Crew, and Starbucks. There are many nearby eateries with a huge representation of cuisines from hoagies to haute-French. A new grocery is scheduled to open 3 blocks away on Spring Street.
In addition to great places to eat there is a movie theatre in town, a Tony award winning regional theatre with two venues and innumerable events hosted by Princeton University that are open to the public. Princeton is approximately one hour from New York City and Philadelphia via public transportation or car.
As of the of 2000 census, there were 14,203 people, 3,326
households, and 1,692 families residing in the borough. The median income for a
family was $102,957. The racial makeup of the borough was 80.26% White, 6.39%
African American, 7.46% Asian, and 7.10% Hispanic or Latino.
